The images in the Canada portfolio were made in eastern Ontario and on Gabriola and Vancouver Islands during numerous trips to the areas in 2006. While very different in terms of climate and topology both areas provided me with fascinating subject matter for my monochrome printing in the rocks, trees and architecture.
Carbon Transfer Prints
Carbon transfer is a traditional hand made process that dates from the mid 1860s. Because of its wide tonal range and surface characteristics, which includes a three-dimensional look, it is one of the most distinctive of all photographic processes. Carbon transfer is also the most stable of all photographic processes, its permanence being limited only by the final support on which the relief image is transferred. Depending on the requirements of the image carbon transfer prints are made on sized art papers and other specially prepared paper surfaces. See the Carbon Transfer page for more information about this unique process.
Only the prints in this Carbon Gallery are available for purchase as Carbon Transfer prints.

Archvial pigment prints are made on high quality photo rag papers designed for inkjet printers. You can read more about this process on the Piezography Archival Print page.
